So Excited!

Okay, so I am not so good at this blog thing at all. Since I last posted I have run my first half-marathon (woo hoo, I wore that medal a lot after the race), had a birthday, went to St. Louis for Thanksgiving, and decorated a Christmas tree. But today I thought I would post because I am so excited, I made the Design Team at Scrap Our Stash blog!! It's been almost a year since I've been on a design team, and I did take a much-needed break, but I missed the whole DT thing. I found the blog Scrap Our Stash a few months ago and they have fun challenges and tips, with the goal of using your stash to create. So I figured I'd give it a shot, and I'm so glad I did. I almost didn't get my submission in on time beings that it's the Christmas season and poor Grant still can't lift more than 10 pounds since his surgery, which has left me with a lot of the work. But...I got my submission in just under the wire and was excited to see that I was chosen!! Here are the projects I submitted:

Anyway, I have to go iron an angel costume for Lauren's Christmas concert so I best do that. I just had to share my excitement! Oh, and just one more brag moment, here I am with the kiddies shortly after I finished my half-marathon--you can't see my medal (bummer) but there's my 13.1 magnet the kids got for me to put on my van!

Yay me!!

School is now in session!

It's been way too long since I've blogged, so sorry. Maybe now that school has started I'll get a little better, but who knows!

Speaking of school, Matthew and Lauren went back to school last week. Lauren started kindergarten, and yes I've been crying just about everyday after I drop her off. I'm so thankful though because she has been doing well with no tears, yay! Matthew is now a big first grader and is liking it. Here they are on their first day of school:

And just so we don't leave her out, here's Catherine enjoying the kindergarten classroom. She's looking forward to preschool starting soon.

I'm still doing my Galloway training, we're running ten miles every Saturday. Yesterday after our run we had a huge pancake breakfast, which is an annual event in the Galloway program. It was yummy! Sometimes I can't believe I'm actually running ten miles considering that a year ago I could barely make it a mile (and then I felt like my heart was going to explode.) My half-marathon is in November, and I'm seriously considering running the Myrtle Beach Marathon in March!

That's all for now, the kids are going absolutely crazy (and I'm having trouble uploading pics to blogger) so I'll post some crafty stuff later! : )

Happy Father's Day and some crafty stuff

Happy Father's Day to all those special dads out there, especially my dad, my father-in-law, and of course the father of my children, my husband Grant. They are some of the best dads out there, and I hope they all had wonderful days! This is the card I made for my Dad (I can post it now, since he told me he already received it!)

So much has happened since I last blogged (almost a month ago, yikes!) School is out, dance recitals have been danced, and the first round of summer camps have come and gone. First, I have to post a photo of the alligator cake I made for Matthew's end-of-year party. When I signed on to do the infamous alligator cake, I thought it would be easy--you know, buy one of those cake pans at Michaels and you're good to go. But no, this would require me to bake two eight-inch rounds, then cut and paste (or ice in this case) pieces together to make the cake. I think it turned out great, and the kids in Matthew's class loved it.

Not too bad for a beginner!

As I said earlier, Lauren had her dance recital last week, she was a bunny in the production of Snow White. The show was great, and Lauren loved the recital year because she got to do ballet instead of tap. I think she makes the cutest bunny:
Then the following week she had cheer camp:

On the last day of cheer camp, the NC State Cheerleaders came and taught them some cheers. The coach is going to email us parents some pics, so as soon as I get them I will post them here. Lauren had a great time!

Galloway update: this past Saturday we ran 6 miles on hills and it was a great run, even though the weather is a little on the warm side. Six miles is a record for me, and each run after that will be too, next week we run 8 miles!

One last crafty goodie before I go, this is one of the cards I made for Matthew and Lauren's teachers for the last day of school. I think they turned out cute, so I just have to post:

Have a wonderful day, and I will really try to do better at this blog thing!

24, Newt, and Galloway Run #1

Hmmmm, guess I haven't done too well with the whole blog thing yet, but I'm hoping to do better once all of the end-of-year parties are finished. My sweet little Lauren finished up preschool on Friday, this fall she'll be starting kindergarten. How on earth did she grow up so fast?

This week I had to say goodbye to Jack. Love me some Jack Bauer! I know a lot of people said the show jumped the shark, but I still loved it and am very sad it has come to an end. At least they didn't kill Jack off, and rumor has it there's a movie in the works, woo hoo!
So my husband went to a convention a couple of weeks ago and got me this book:
Yay, the next President of the United States (okay, I can dream can't I?) He even got it autographed for me:Now that is pretty awesome!
Today was my first run in the Galloway Marathon and Half Marathon Training Program. For some reason last night I was a little nervous, I guess just not knowing what to expect, but it was great! There's over 300 people signed up for the program and our target race is The City of Oaks Marathon and Half-Marathon. Today we ran a slow and easy 3 miles, next week it kicks up to 4, then 5, in five more weeks we're up to 10 miles. I'm not sure if I'm going to run a half or a full marathon, I just want to see how the training goes. I was planning on running a half, then run a full marathon at Myrtle Beach (since it's flat, ha!) but now I'm not sure what I'll run, good thing the race isn't until November!

Well I'm off to try to get some scrapbooking done, I'll post some photos of projects I did for the kids teachers later, they turned out pretty cute if I do say so myself!

Have a blessed day, Tammy

My first blog post!

Yay, I'm finally doing the blog thing! It has taken me so long to jump on the blog bandwagon, but with family and friends spread out across the country I thought it would be a great idea to start a blog so they can keep up with what is going on. Not to mention it's a nice place to post photos of family, layouts, all that fun stuff. So welcome, and I promise I'll do better at posting here than I do at FB!!
